Working with substantiation data in My Care Card

Substantiation is the process of verifying that every expense made with a card is qualified for the intended purpose. Substantiation is most frequently associated with health Flexible Spending Accounts. When a transaction is invalid, the member must re-pay the full amount of the transaction to the plan.

Most transactions are substantiated at the point of sale. When a transaction cannot substantiate at the point of sale, a TPA can use the Substantiate Transaction page to work with transaction substantiation data. You can access the Transaction Substantiation page through a member's profile or through the Substantiation menu. This section explains how manual substantiation works in My Care Card and provides step-by-step procedures for completing substantiation-related tasks.
